At Arizona Spellers’ Academy, our mission is simple yet powerful: to empower and support individuals who experience difficulty in speaking. We believe in the competence of every individual and work tirelessly to ensure they have access to age-appropriate academic resources through spelled communication.
Education for non-speakers must change.
For too long, the non-speaking, unreliable and minimal speaking population have been taught with the expectation of Least Restrictive Environment and Appropriate education. It’s time to throw out that bar and build a new one. Where every individual is presumed competent. Where support is welcomed and not shamed. Where robust communication is possible and not a luxury.
We will not function without the voices of non-speakers.
Our board is excited to bring education through spelled communication to the Southwest! We have years of experience in education, teaching spelling methods, lived experience and non-profit work. We are ready to build a new educational experience for non-speakers where everyone has a voice!
At Arizona Spellers’ Academy, every nonspeaker has a voice. Students have the support they need for regulation, communication, and education.
